1. Brenden Rice, USC, wide receiver

The Jacksonville Jaguars have made it clear they want to re-sign Calvin Ridley. Trent Baalke said at the scouting combine that he recently met with him and both sides know where the other stands. Moreover, he says that he's not concerned about giving a second or third-round pick if that's what it takes to keep him. But even if they manage to retain Ridley, the Jags could still use some depth at wide receiver.

Last year, the offense suffered a noticeable dip in production when Zay Jones went down with injuries. Similarly, Christian Kirk's absence in the second half loomed large. The issue is that the Jaguars didn't have an adequate replacement in place for either Jones or Kirk. Sure, Parker Washington flashed in the slot when he filled in for Kirk but Jacksonville could benefit from adding depth and competition to the wide receiver corps.

One appealing option in the middle rounds will be USC's Brenden Rice. That's right the legendary Jerry Rice's son. While the younger Rice has gotten recognition because of his famous dad, he made a name for himself at USC, especially in 2023, when he hauled in 45 receptions for 791 yards and 12 touchdowns. At 6'3" and 205 pounds, he's a deep threat that could stretch the field for the Jaguars but also line up in the slot if needed.

Ian Cummings of Pro Football Network points out that Rice has good acceleration but needs to work on his release, especially when going against press coverage. Moreover, his route-running could use some work but he would be a late Day 2, possibly early Day 3 pickup.
