No. 1 player tumbling down in Jaguars training camp: Snoop Conner

Travis Etienne missed his rookie campaign with a Lisfranc injury but tallied over 1,414 yards from scrimmage last season, proving the Jaguars made the right decision when they drafted him 25th overall in the 2021 draft. Heading into Year 3, he's worked on being even more productive. But he isn't the only running back Jacksonville will be counting on in 2023.

JaMycal Hasty is back and even got a two-year deal extension earlier this year after being claimed off waivers before the start of the 2022 season. The Jags also inked D'Ernest Johnson in free agency and drafted Tank Bigsby to round out their running back room.

Both Johnson and Bigsboy have made plays in training camp while Hasty has been his reliable self. On the other hand, Snoop Conner hasn't made noise. Although it's early, there's definitively cause for concern.

A fifth-round pick in last year's draft, Conner was a healthy scratch early in the 2022 season and only started to get carries once the Jags shipped James Robinson to the New York Jets. Even then, Conner's playing time was minimal, logging 12 carries for 42 yards on 38 offensive snaps.

Last year, the Jaguars didn't have much depth at the position, which is partially why Conner ended up making the team. This time around though, there's lots of competition, and might have a harder time making the cut due to the presence of Johnson and Bigsby.
