The Jacksonville Jaguars took a conservative approach in free agency last year, opting to leave the roster mostly intact. Things didn't go the way they expected and ended up missing the playoffs. The Jags didn't want to make the same mistake again and took out the checkbook to address several needs this time around.

Many of the players Jacksonville signed in free agency should have an immediate impact, but there will be others who were on the roster last year who'll benefit from the arrivals. These four come to mind.

4. Travon Walker, defensive end

After spending his rookie season getting acclimated to the NFL, outside linebacker Travon Walker made a massive leap in Year 2, logging 10 sacks and 59 total pressures. He should continue getting better under defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen, who's routinely gotten the most out of his defensive linemen.

Walker will continue to rush the quarterback from a standup position under Nielsen but he'll also play with his hand in the ground. One big reason he won't have trouble making the adjustment is that he mostly lined up in a three-point stance at Georgia. On top of that, having defensive end Arik Armstead next to him should be of great help.

Last year, the Jaguars had trouble creating pressure from the interior but that should no longer be an issue with Armstead in the fold. Opposing teams will need to devote attention to stopping the former Stanford Cardinal. That in turn will leave Walker and Josh Allen with more favorable matchups inside.

The coaching changes and the arrival of Armstead will put Walker in a position to keep getting better in 2024.
