2. The Jacksonville Jaguars add a playmaker to their tight end room

On the one hand, general manager Trent Baalke told the local media during a pre-draft sitdown that the top brass feels comfortable with their current tight end group, one that includes Evan Engram, Luke Farrell, and 2022 undrafted free agent Gerrit Prince.

On the other hand, Engram got the franchise tag and is slated to become a free agent next offseason barring a long-term deal. Farrell is a solid reserve player but nothing more at this stage of his career and last but not least, Prince might not even make the 53-man roster, so drafting a tight end might not be a bad idea. Baalke also said that the Jags have set their sights on three prospects with the 24th overall pick and none of them is a tight end.

The good news is that just like cornerback, this year's draft is stacked with tight-end talent and the Jaguars could select one in the second or third round. Darnell Washington is someone to keep an eye on with the 56th overall pick. And if they want to wait until Round 3, Sam LaPorta is someone worth investing a selection in.

Engram might end up striking a multi-year deal but the Jaguars should err on the side of caution and draft a tight end that can potentially step into a starting role down the road.
