The Jacksonville Jaguars weren't able to make the playoffs in 2023. Just like that, a season that started with promise came to an abrupt end when they lost to the Tennessee Titans in the finale. The feeling of failing to live up to expectations will most likely linger with them throughout the offseason. The Jags will need to use it as motivation to ensure they don't fall short again in 2024, especially when you take into account that they'll have a tough slate of opponents.

While the 2024 schedule will be announced around May, Jacksonville's list of opponents for next season is set. One look will show that they won't have an easy road to the playoffs. These three teams in particular could spell trouble.

3. Houston Texans

A trip to the playoffs and winning the AFC South crown in 2022 was supposed to be the start of an era of dominance by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Instead, they were one-and-done, with the Houston Texans taking over the No. 1 spot in the division last year. While Jacksonville came crashing down in the finale, the Texans qualified for the postseason and supplanted them as the division champs.

The 2023 season hasn't even finished, but it doesn't seem like Houston will be a one-year wonder. Not only do they have a franchise quarterback in C.J. Stroud, but they also have a promising core to build upon. Players such as wide receiver Tank Dell, defensive end Will Anderson Jr., and cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. will allow the Texans to compete for the AFC South title for years to come.

Add the fact that they've set to have the fourth-most cap space in the league and two first-round selections in 2024, and it won't be easy for the Jaguars to get back to the top.
