No. 1 team that should rush to trade for Jacksonville Jaguars QB CJ Beathard: Vikings
Earlier in the season, it looked like the Minnesota Vikings were going to be sellers at the deadline. However, they started winning games and suddenly found themselves in the mix for the No. 1 place in the NFC North after beating the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7. Then, disaster struck.
in Week 8, the Vikes lost Kirk Cousins to what looks to be a season-ending injury. He got hurt in the fourth quarter and had to be carted off the field. X-rays confirmed Monday that the injury was a torn Achilles. What makes this more frustrating is that Cousins had a huge day. Throughout his career, he's put up pretty good numbers but just couldn't get it done in prime time.
At least that was the case until Cousins led Minnesota to a victory over the Niners on Sunday Night Football. In that game, he consistently moved the chains and completed 77.8 percent of his passes for 378 yards with two touchdowns and one interception despite the fact that All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson was out.
Granted, San Francisco has lost three in a row but that doesn't make Cousin's performance any less impressive. After gaining steam in recent weeks, it's hard to see the Vikings giving up on the season now. While having Kirk Cousins hurts, Beathard could mitigate the blow.
Given that Jarred Hall is the only other quarterback on the Vikings roster, there's a good chance they'll try to make a move before the deadline. If so, Beathard should be on the table.
