No. 2 team that should rush to trade for Jacksonville Jaguars QB CJ Beathard: LA Rams

Injuries can change a team's outlook in the blink of an eye. In Week 8, the Los Angeles Rams lost quarterback Matthew Stafford to a thumb injury. Stafford left the game in the third quarter and got his hand taped. The silver lining is that he didn't suffer a fracture but his status moving forward is still in question.

Having said that, rookie Stetson Bennet remains on the non-football illness list and Brett Rypien is the only other signal-caller on the roster. This could prompt the Rams to look for help at the position before the trade deadline.

Ryan Tannehill, for one, has surfaced as a potential trade candidate. However, he's currently out for a few weeks with an ankle injury, so he wouldn't be able to help right away. Moreover, his best days are probably behind him. On the other hand, C.J. Beathard has starting experience and has lots of gas left in the tank.

At 3-5, Los Angeles has a lot of catchup to do in the NFC West but Beathard could keep their playoff hopes alive while Stafford recovers from his thumb injury. The Rams' offensive line isn't particularly great but it isn't dreadful either. They could give Beathard enough time to find Copper Kupp and rookie sensation Puka Nacua.

Rams general manager Les Snead has a history of making trades and it wouldn't be shocking if he makes a move for a quarterback before the deadline.
