No. 1 potential suitor for Jaguars RB D'Ernest Johnson: Cleveland Browns

There are a handful reasons Week 2's Monday Night Football made headlines. One of them was the not-so-great play of Kenny Pickett. Fellow quarterback Deshaun Watson also got lots of attention for two facemask penalties and shoving a referee. Another thing that stood out and not for good reasons was the season-ending injury to running back Nick Chubb.

The Browns were expected to become playoff contenders in Year 2 of the Deshaun Watson era. But without Chubb, their chances of reaching the position could decrease considerably. This is why it's not surprising that they're one of the teams inquiring about Cam Aker's availability.

The truth is that it's hard to see the Browns reaching the playoffs. Watson isn't playing like the top-5 quarterback Cleveland thought they were getting then they traded a handful of first-round picks and gave him a fully guaranteed contract. That said, it's too early to rule them and if they're serious about turning things around, they'll need to fill the void left by Chubb. One option could be Kareem Hunt, who was also part of their backfield the last four years.

Another alternative is D'Ernest Johnson, who coincidentally also spent the previous four seasons in Cleveland. Hunt was productive when called upon and is free to sign with anyone right now. On the other hand, Johnson has less tread on the tires, so he could be the more enticing option of the two.

The Browns would need to part ways with a pick to acquire Johnson but their interest in potential trading for Cam Akers shows that they would probably not mind, so why not go with the devil they know?
