It kind of feels like 2019 all over again for the Jacksonville Jaguars. That year, they failed to strike a long-term deal with cornerback Jalen Ramsey and ended up trading him to the Los Angeles Rams for a pair of first-round picks and a fourth-rounder. To say that Ramsey didn't leave on good terms is an understatement. Granted, he didn't go about it the best possible way but the Jags had several chances to get a deal done but came up short.

Fast forward to 2024 and negotiations with star defender Josh Allen aren't off to a great start. A first-round pick in 2019, Allen is coming off a career year and is set to become a free agent in March. The Jags wanted him to play out his rookie deal and he delivered. They should now keep their end of the bargain but they don't seem to be in a hurry to get something done.

Although there's still ample time to get a deal done, the Jaguars need to operate with a sense of urgency and ensure their best defensive player gets taken care of. Otherwise, their relationship could quickly sour to the point in which Allen no longer wants to remain in Jacksonville. It already happened once with Ramsey. They surely don't want to go down that path again.

Hopefully, they'll resolve things. A deal that pays Allen an annual average of $26 million seems reasonable based on his impact off and off the field but if things get ugly * knocks on wood * here are three potential trade destinations for Allen.
