No. 1 stock down player in Jaguars training camp: Sammis Reyes, TE

The Jaguars had a relatively quiet offseason but they made a handful of low-key signings that turned heads. One of them was tight end Sammis Reyes, an athletic talent that played basketball in college and only took up football in recent years.

Reyes spent time with the Washington Commanders and the Chicago Bears before signing with the Jags in May. While he Chile native made a positive impression early on, he hasn't been able to stand out in training camp, or at least as much as other tight ends on the roster.

Make no mistake, Reyes has lots of upside but he wasn't expected to compete for a featured role with the Jaguars. Instead, he was a work in progress worth a look in training camp. Unfortunately for Reyes, Gerrit Prince has gotten rave reviews in training camp and seems to have a favorable chance of making the 53-man roster after spending his rookie season in the training camp.

An undrafted free agent last year, Prince has been responsible for a handful of highlight reels in training camp and could even move ahead of Luke Farrell on the depth chart. Evan Engram and rookie Brenton Strange are locks to make the team, with Farrell taking the No. 3 spot. That would leave just one slot left and Reyes will need to compete with Prince for it.

So far, Prince looks like a good bet to seize that spot, so Reyes will need to take advantage of the remaining practices.
