3 players the Jacksonville Jaguars would love to pick in Round 2 of 2023 NFL Draft
1. prospect the Jacksonville Jaguars would like to draft in Round 2: Jalin Hyatt
This might seem an odd pick when you take into account that the Jaguars signed Christian Kirk and Zay Jones last offseason. Moreover, general manager Trent Baalke traded for Calvin Ridley before last year's deadline, so one position the Jaguars could choose not to address in 2023 is wide receiver.
Having said that, you can never have enough players and the Jags shouldn't pass up the chance to replenish their wide receiver corps. Ridley is set to become a free agent next year and both Kirk's and Jones' contracts run through 2024, so it would be a good idea to start planning for the future in case, Jacksonville can't retain them.
Even though it wouldn't make too much sense to take a wide receiver in the first round, Jalin Hyatt would be a solid choice if he's still available at No. 56. After all, he was named the Jags' dream target, albeit at No. 24.
At 6' and 175 pounds, Hyatt could get jammed by bigger corners at the line of scrimmage. Moreover, he didn't run a full route tree at Tennessee, so he might need time to adjust to the NFL and make an impact. On the other hand, Joe Marino of The Draft Network notes that Hyatt has tremendous acceleration and the ability to make adjustments on the fly. Moreover, he possesses soft hands and good tracking skills.
Marino doesn't think Hyatt could be a "high-volume No. 1 target" but thinks he can thrive as a dynamic No. 2 that makes the No. 1 even better".
