Outside linebacker Josh Allen is having a career year. The past five games, he's tallied seven sacks and currently leads the league in total pressures. Without him, the Jags would probably struggle to get after the quarterback.

Outside linebacker Travon Walker has made strides the last three weeks and K'Lavon Chaisson, a 2020 first-round pick, has registered a career-high two sacks in 2023. However, neither one is in the same echelon as Allen. Neither one would be capable of recreating Allen's production in case he missed time (knock on wood).

Having Dawuane Smoot back in the fold certainly helps. Also, defensive end DaVon Hamilton, who started the season on Injured Reserve, has been a full participant in practice and is close to returning. However, Jacksonville could still use another pass rusher opposite Allen to round out their rotation.

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Danielle Hunter's name has been floated heading into the trade deadline but Josh Uche is also a player to keep an eye on in the upcoming weeks. With Matt Judon expected to miss significant time Uche is the Patriots' best pass rusher. The former Michigan Wolverine had registered 11.5 sacks in 2022 but only has two this season.

The truth is that the Patriots have no direction right now and Uche could benefit from a change of scenery. The prospect of potentially joining a team that is expected to make a playoff push could incentivize him to request a trade. Uche is set to become a free agent in 2024. In Jacksonville would get a chance to boost his stock and cash in the next year.
