No. 1 Pass rusher the Jaguars could trade for: Danielle Hunter

Defensive end Danielle Hunter requested a trade from the Minnesota Vikings in the offseason but ultimately stayed put when he agreed to a new $20 million deal before the start of the 2023 season. That seemed to be the end of it but there are a few reasons the Vikes could listen to offers before the deadline.

Minnesota went into rebuilding mode last year, so it was a bit surprising that they went 13-4. But even after making the playoffs last year, the rebuild is still ongoing. Right now, the Vikings are 0-2 and Kirk Cousins is entering the last year of his contract. Add star wide receiver Justin Jefferson's incoming extension and the team's brass might be looking for ways to trim the payroll and acquire future assets. By trading Hunter, they would accomplish both goals.

Right now, Hunter is by far Minnesota's best pass rusher. He's logged four sacks, as many as Josh Allen, in two games and no other Vikings player has more than 1. This could make the front office second guess the decision to ship Hunter out of town. However, they already entertained trade offers early this year, so it's clear they wouldn't be opposed to trading him.

Something along the lines of a third-round pick could get a deal done but it would be worth it. In Jacksonville, Hunter would give the Jaguars a dominant pass rusher to complement an already dynamic rotation.
