No. 2 pass rusher the Jacksonville Jaguars can sign: Yannick Ngakoue

Calais Campbell could return to Jacksonville any time he wants and he would get a standing ovation. Conversely, there's a chance defensive end Yannick Ngakoue will get a chilly welcome and that's because he didn't leave on amicable terms. Although the 2016 third-round pick had a productive four-year stretch in Jacksonville, a contract dispute and a quarrel with Tony Khan on social media ended with him getting traded to the Minnesota Vikings in 2020 and the Baltimore Ravens that year.

After the conclusion of the 2020 season, Ngakoue was shipped to the Las Vegas Raiders, where he tallied a solid 10 sacks and two forced fumbles. But despite his productive campaign, he was traded once again last offseason. This time to the Indianapolis Colts.

All things considered, the former Maryland Terrapin put together solid numbers during his time in Indy. He appeared in 15 games and logged 9.5 sacks and one forced fumble. While it's fair to wonder why Ngakoue's career has become somewhat nomadic in recent years, it's clear his production isn't the answer. Maybe he doesn't mesh well with others but regardless of the reason, the Jaguars' brass should at least explore the idea of potentially signing him.

General manager Trent Baalke doesn't have to host Ngakoue for a dinner or invite him on a fishing trip but it would be a good idea to keep tabs on him. At this point of free agency and his career, Ngakoue won't get a top-market contract and might need to settle for a one-year deal, which would fit the Jaguars' budget just fine.
