No. 1 Jaguars player who's made strides in OTAs: Travon Walker, EDGE

The Jaguars knew Travon Walker, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 draft, was going to need time to get acclimated to playing outside linebacker full-time after playing different roles in college. Even though the former Georgia Bulldog had growing pains as a rookie, he also flashed potential and he's expected to make a significant leap in Year 2.

During OTAs, Walker has been practicing with defensive line coach Brentson Buckner. Not because he'll switch positions but because he's at his best with he plays in a three-point stance. His most productive game last season came against the Tennessee Titans and he lined up with his hand in the ground.

Walker might still play most of his snaps at outside linebacker next season but it wouldn't be shocking to see the coaching staff move him around to look for favorable matchups. Without any other pass-viable pass-rush options on the roster right now, the Jags will need more from Walker if they want to apply pressure up front consistently.

As it stands, it doesn't look like the Jags will bring in a veteran pass rusher in the offseason. Maybe they want to see their young players develop but there's a chance they think it won't be necessary to add reinforcements if Walker does make a leap in Year 2.

Walker has always had the talent to succeed. He just needs to put it all together and if he does, he'll become an integral piece of the Jaguars' defense for years to come.
