OL Jack Anderson could be cut before he plays a snap for the Jaguars

The Jaguars made a handful of moves to ensure the offensive line performs much better than they did last year. The biggest one might've been signing center Mitch Morse in the offseason. The front office also brought back Ezra Cleveland and Blake Hance in free agency. More recently, they claimed Jack Anderson off waivers after being released by the Indianapolis Colts.

Anderson was a 2021 seventh-round pick by the Buffalo Bills. Before landing in Indy, he had stints with the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles. For his career, he's appeared in 15 games with two starts. The former Texas Tech Red Raider has mostly played guard throughout his career. It's hard to see him making a switch to the edges, so he will need to compete with undrafted free agent Steven Jones, sophomore Cooper Hodges, veteran Tyler Shatley and fourth-year pro Cole Van Lanen in training camp.

All these hog mollies will be competing for a roster spot behind Cleveland and Scherff. Jacksonville could end up keeping two of them, along with center Luke Fortner. Of the bunch, Hodges likely has the inside track to seize the top reserve role. The other roster spot could be up for grabs, and it's hard to tell who could end up getting it.

Van Lanen has hardly played since joining the Jags via trade in 2022. Shatley was re-signed in the offseason but wasn't particularly great last year. Jones may be the longest odd to make the team, but Anderson would still have to beat Van Lanen and Shately to earn a spot. That hill could turn out to be too steep for him.

Never say never, but nobody will bat an eye if Anderson ends up getting the boot on roster cutdown day.
