No. 1 free agent do-over for the Jaguars in 2023: Frank Clark, DE

Defensive end Frank Clark became a mainstay of the Kansas City Chiefs when he signed a five-year deal worth $104 million in 2019. However, he was set to make $28.675, and rather than keeping him around for the last year of his contract, the Chiefs chose to release him and free up $21 million in space with $7.65 million in dead money.

Despite the fact that Clark earned two Super Bowl rings and made the Pro Bowl three times during his stint with Kansas City, it took him a while to land with a new club after his release. In the end, he inked a deal worth up to $7.5 million with the Denver Broncos in early June.

This might seem like a fair deal when you take into account that Clark has only logged 23.5 sacks and six forced fumbles in 58 regular-season games for the Chiefs. But it could turn out to be a bargain if the former Michigan Wolverine plays like he does in the playoffs.

In 12 postseason outings at Kansas City, Clark has registered 10 sacks and he could have certainly helped the Jaguars if they make a playoff run in 2023, as expected. Doug Pederson told the media not long ago that they will see what they have in their young players before they consider looking for outside help to bolster their pass rush.

Then again, the Jags wouldn't have needed to wait if they had pursued Clark, who would have given them a huge boost right out of the gate.
