1. Player the Jacksonville Jaguars won't miss in 2023: Shaquill Griffin, CB

Cornerback Shaquill Griffin's tenure with the Jags was rather interesting. A third-round pick by the Seattles Seahawks in 2017, the former UCF Knight signed a three-year deal worth $40 million with Jacksonville in 2021.

Griffin wasn't great in his first season with the Black and Teal but he wasn't dreadful either. The Jaguars as a whole were a bad team at the time. On top of that, players and the coaching staff had to deal with Urban Meyer, who had no clue how to run an NFL team. Nevertheless, Griffin never shied away from talking to the media even though the Jags were in a state of disarray.

Looking back, Griffin's didn't year in Jacksonville didn't go as planned but he was set to be a key cog in their secondary last year. Unfortunately, a back injury in training camp put all plans to a halt. He was limited to just five games and ended the season on the Injured Reserve list.

Coming off a disappointing season and scheduled to count $17.1 million against the cap next season, Griffin became a prime candidate to get released. Although he expressed a desire to return in 2023, the Jaguars were in need of cap relief and had already found an adequate replacement in Darious Williams. In the end, the Jags decided to release Griffin, which freed up $13.1 million in cap room.
