Jacksonville Jaguars worst pick in the 2023 NFL Draft: Ventrell Miller, LB

Tank Bigsby, the 88th overall pick, deserved consideration for this spot. After all, the Jaguars' running back room was stacked, having locked up D'Ernest Johnson in free agency and bringing back JaMycal Hasty on a two-year deal. On top of that, the Jaguars just drafted Snoop Conner last year, so taking Bigsby in the third round seemed unnecessary.

Having said that, Bigsby could challenge Johnson for the No. 2 job behind Travis Etienne and could form a dynamic backfield tandem with the former Clemson Tiger. So who's the Jags' worst pick in the 2023 draft then? In case you skipped the headline, that would be Florida linebacker Ventrell Miller.

The Jaguars signed Foyesade Oluokun last offseason and he restructured his contract not long ago, so he isn't going anywhere. Moreover, the Jaguars used first and third-round picks on Devin Lloyd and Chad Muma last year.

By virtue of being a former first-round pick, Lloyd will be given a chance to earn the starting role next to Oluokun. However, Muma will keep him on his toes throughout training camp and could end up taking a few snaps away from Lloyd in 2023. So where does that leave Miller?

Shaquille Quarterback will tentatively open training camp as the No. 4 linebacker on the depth chart but he's set to become a free agent next year. It's possible that the Jaguars are planning ahead by drafting Miller in case he leaves in 2024. But unless Miller shows out in training camp, it's hard to see him getting a meaningful number of snaps as a rookie.
