NFL Top 100 just gave Jaguars fans a harsh reminder they won't like

The Jacksonville Jaguars went 13-4 and won the AFC South title in 2025. Yet, they aren't being treated like the contender they are. The fact that they didn't make a big swing in free agency may play a role. Similarly, their draft class raised eyebrows across the league. Having said that, the Jags still have plenty of talent on both sides of the ball to make a deep playoff run. Moreover, Liam Coen oversaw a turnaround last year and should have no trouble picking up where he left off.

You would think that would be enough for Jacksonville to see many of their players make Pete Prisco's top 100 list of NFL players. However, other less deserving teams were better represented in the ranking.

Josh Hines-Allen and Trevor Lawrence are the only Jaguars to make the top 100

In his top 100, Pete Prisco of CBS Sports included Josh Hines-Allen and Trevor Lawrence at No. 53 and No. 65, respectively. While it's nice to see the Jaguars' two most prominent players make the list, it was odd that they were the only ones.

For instance, Antonio Johnson is coming off a breakout season and was one of the top safeties in 2025. He deserved consideration but didn't get the nod. Similarly, wide receiver Parker Washington posted career numbers and led the team in the main receiving categories, but there were no signs of him in the countdown.

To add insult to injury, the Houston Texans and the Indianapolis Colts had more players on the list: five and three, respectively. Even worse, three Texans, Will Anderson, Danielle Hunter, and Derek Stingley Jr, had a better ranking than Lawrence. Make no mistake, all three are top-notch players, but can you truly say with a straight face that they're better or more valuable than Lawrence?

The NFL top 100 list shows the Jaguars have their work cut out

Every top 100 list will command scrutiny. That's just the nature of rankings, as some players will be snubbed and others will make the cut even if they aren't deserving. In this case, the Jaguars could have had at least one more player, especially when you take into account that they're coming off one of their most successful season in recent years.

There's no doubt that Liam Coen had a huge impact in his first season with the Jags, but he didn't do it alone. He had a group of talented players, and they also deserve credit for coming through. Having said that, it's also clear that Jacksonville still has its work cut out.

If the Jags want to be treated like one of the best teams in the league, they need to win on a consistent basis and show that 2025 wasn't an outlier but rather the sign of things to come. There's also a silver lining. Coen has routinely found ways to get his players motivated. Do you think that he will use the disrespect on the top 100 list to fuel his team?

Despite winning 13 games last year, the Jaguars keep getting snubbed. That will give them a golden opportunity to prove everyone wrong.
