Although the Jacksonville Jaguars have stated that they won't be moving Brian Thomas Jr., he became the subject of trade speculation when he saw his role decrease earlier this season. That said, head coach Liam Coen said that he remains part of the team's future and expects him to make plays.

A recent scoop validates Coen's remarks about Thomas with the trade deadline looming.

Tom Pelissero says the Jaguars aren't interested in trading Brian Thomas Jr.

Insider Tom Pelissero of Netflix dropped the news that the Jaguars haven't changed their stance, noting that they aren't interested in trading Brian Thomas Jr. despite the fact that teams have inquired about him.

"Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr.'s name has seemingly come up in trade rumors weekly since the start of last season," Pelissero said, via Paul Kasabian of Bleacher Report. "But while there continue to be calls periodically, Jacksonville has shown no interest in trading the former first-round pick."

Thomas was at the center of trade chatter in the offseason, but general manager James Gladstone made it clear that Jacksonville had no intention of moving him, pointing out that any suggestion to the contrary was fraudulent. The fact that No. 7 had a strong offseason most definitely helped decrease the noise. But speculation arose when he had two costly drops against the Denver Broncos in Week 2.

The following game, Thomas had a reduced role, playing as many snaps as rookie Josh Cameron. However, he put his head down and focused on getting better. Coen acknowledged his effort, stating that the 2024 first-round pick had a strong week of practice ahead of the Cincinnati Bengals game.

Thomas went on to catch two passes for 18 yards with a touchdown, his first of the season, in the win over Cincy. It's fair to assume that he'll continue to see an uptick in playing time if he keeps taking advantage of his chances, regardless of how many or how few he gets.

The latest report confirms the Jaguars aren't giving up on Brian Thomas Jr.

The Jaguars have remained committed to Brian Thomas Jr. in spite of his struggles, and understandably so. He's a highly talented player who took the league by storm as a rookie. That's precisely the reason he's been dubbed a trade candidate and why other teams would want to land him.

Of course, Thomas has to do his part and deliver, but for the time being, he will tentatively stay in Duval. The only scenario in which I could see the Jags trading him would be if a club makes him an offer they can't refuse. That would be either a high second or a first-rounder, and it's hard to imagine someone would be willing to give up that kind of compensation.

It's also worth noting that fellow 2024 first-round pick Marvin Harrison Jr. is trending toward being traded as of this writing, with several reports naming the Houston Texans as a potential trade destination. You would think that there would be a similar amount of noise involving Thomas if he were about to be dealt, but that's not the case.

If anything, any of the teams that are setting their sights on Harrison could see Thomas as a fallback. But barring anything unexpected, he'll remain with the Jaguars.
