Back in 2024, Travis Hunter was the most electrifying player in college football because he played two ways full-time at an absurdly high level. Not surprisingly, the Jacksonville Jaguars traded up to draft him second overall the following year.

Through his rookie campaign, the hype surrounding Hunter was through the roof. Unfortunately, a knee injury cut his first NFL season short. The good news is that the former Heisman Trophy winner is ahead of schedule in his recovery, and he's been hitting the gym in the meantime to make sure that he's back at full strength when he returns to the football field.

Hunter is already back at practice, and stock is already soaring again. Heck, several analysts expect him to break out and even be a legitimate Defensive Player of the Year candidate. If that wasn't enough, one NBA superstar is hopping onto the bandwagon.

Anthony Edwards wants a Travis Hunter jersey when he goes to a Jaguars game

Anthony Edwards just released a line of football cleats in a partnership with Adidas. During the ad, Travis Hunter makes a cameo.

But wait, there's more. Behind the scenes, Edwards made it clear that he wants a Travis Hunter jersey when he attends a Jaguars game.

"He says he's gonna give me a jersey when I come to a game," Edwards says. "You know the equipment managers be like, man, you can't give no jerseys away. I don't want to hear all that. Jacksonville, when I come to the game, I need the jersey."

Edwards was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft. He's spent his whole pro career with the Minnesota Timberwolves, earning four NBA All-Star designations, the NBA All-Star MVP in 2026, and two All-NBA Second Team selections. The fact that he has his own line of shoes goes on to just how much of a superstar he is.

The Wolves lost to the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Semifinals (Round 2 of the NBA playoffs), and Edwards caught a bit of flak for congratulating the opposing bench. Having been knocked out of the postseason, Minnesota is now in offseason mode, and the goal is to build around Ant.

Below you can check the behind the scenes with Hunter and Edwards.

Travis Hunter is ready to explode for the Jaguars

Travis Hunter got off to a slow start to his rookie season, but some of that stemmed from the fact that he faced a steeper learning curve than most players making the leap to the NFL. That said, he got better as the year progressed and finally broke out against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 7, reeling in eight receptions for 101 yards with one touchdown and one pass defensed. However, it all came to a halt when he suffered an LCL injury during Jacksonville's BYE.

In spite of how things ended in 2025, the Jaguars still expect Hunter to play two ways, with the caveat that he'll see an uptick in playing time at corner. Then again, that could be his best fit in the NFL, so nobody would bat an eye if he takes off in Year 2.

Travis Hunter has yet to return to the gridiron, but you can tell that everyone is rooting for him to break out. If he picks up where he left off last year, he should have no trouble pulling it off.
