Even though there are still a handful of skeptics out there, most analysts are quietly buying into the Trevor Lawrence hype, and understandably so. Dating back to Week 10 of the 2025 season, No. 16 has been the most productive quarterback in the NFL. Heck, he just dismantled the Cleveland Browns defense, going 18-of-23 for 245 yards with four touchdowns and no picks.
You could argue that the showing was against the Browns, but Lawrence and the Jags did what any good team would do: take care of business against a lowly opponent. Don't forget that Jacksonville has a penchant for playing down to its opponents (at least in past years), so the dominant win over Cleveland is indeed noteworthy.
In fact, Micah Parsons caught wind of the Jags' dominant outing in the season opener and wasted no time turning into a believer.

Micah Parsons and co-host Quincy Avery said on The Edge podcast that they were impressed with the Jaguars, pointing out that Trevor Lawrence looked amazing in the season opener.
"He had a throw on the right side of the end zone through four defenders," Avery told Parsons. "His anticipation, his accuracy; he's playing at another level right now.
For context, Avery was throwing about Lawrence's needle-threading touchdown pass to rookie Josh Cameron that put the Jags up 14-0 in Week 1.

Parsons, for his part, believes that Lawrence was playing at an MVP level last season and could win the award in his second season under Liam Coen.
"Trevor Lawrence might have been the dark horse in the MVP," Parsons said. "I'm going to say the Jags made the right call by bringing in Liam Cohen. Since he's got under the development of Trevor Lawrence, Trevor Lawrence has won 13 games in a season. And now this year, in year two under him, he looks phenomenal."
Although Lawrence got off to a slow start, he caught fire as the season progressed and finished fifth in MVP voting. The former Clemson Tiger is currently lurking around No. 11 or No. 12 in most quarterback rankings, but it may be a matter of time before he cracks the top 10 and maybe even the top 5.

Mina Kimes of ESPN and Nick Wright of FS1 have been in Trevor Lawrence's corner for a while, but other analysts are starting to catch up to what The Prince has done and is capable of doing in 2026. Sure, he hasn't been nearly as consistent in past seasons, but that's quickly changing under head coach Liam Coen.
Since Coen became the Jaguars head coach, he's managed to make the most of Lawrence, but that's because he made sure his quarterback put an emphasis on having sound fundamentals. Moreover, Coen has tweaked his system to take advantage of Lawrence's strengths. That's led to what's without a doubt the most successful nine-game stretch of his career.
Based on how much progresses Lawrence has made under Coen's tutelage, it's hard to see him regressing. Micah Parsons just acknowledged it, and if Lawrence has a strong game in Week 2 against the Denver Broncos, it will be impossible not to talk about him as a serious MVP candidate.
