Since the end of the 2024 season, there's been lots of speculation about Trevor Lawrence's future with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The biggest reason was that he has played well at times but hasn't been consistent enough to prove he's a top-10 quarterback. Couple that with his slow start under Liam Coen, and the chatter about No. 16 leaving the Jags ramped up the past few months. Having said that, he's quickly bucking the trend.

After a rough start to the year, Lawrence has played much better in recent weeks. Having Jakobi Meyers around has certainly been huge, but it also looks like he's finally getting acclimated to Liam Coen's scheme, the most complex his been in his career.

In the 36-19 win over the Indianapolis Colts, Lawrence had yet another strong outing. This led former NFL MVP and CBS Sports analyst to confirmed what Jags fans have noticed in recent weeks.

Matt Ryan heaps praise on Trevor Lawrence after the Jaguars win vs. the Colts

Trevor Lawrnece went 17-of-30 for 244 yards with two touchdowns and no inteceptions against the Colts. After the win, Matt Ryan said that the first overall pick in the 2021 draft is playing the most consistent football of his career, noting that he's sees lots of maturation and comfort in his play.

"I think Trevor Lawrence, last couple of weeks, it's been the most consistent football he's played in his career," Ryan said. "There's a maturation, there's a comfort level that's coming of understanding what's being asked from him."

Ryan continued, "We've talked about it before, but the pickup of Jacoby Myers to use him the ability to attack the middle of the football field, we're seeing Brian Thomas do that same thing, both on the outside and the inside. This is a good football team, and like you said, an opportunistic defense of taking the football away."

Since the Jaguars traded for Jakobi Meyers, Lawrence has shown notable improvement, completing 60 percent of his throws for 885 yards with eight touchdowns and a manageable four interceptions, none the past four games. Not surprisingly, Jacksonville is 4-0 in that span.

NFL analysts are taking notice of Trevor Lawrence's latest surge

Keep in mind that Matt Ryan isn't the only NFL analyst that has noticed Trevor Lawrence's recent surge. Just recently, CBS Sports colleagues Bill Cowher and Nate Burleson also talked about how different No. 16 has looked in recent weeks.

And with his latest surge, Lawrence should be able to shut down questions about his future with the Jags. Of course, he still has his work cut out, but the former Clemson Tiger is quickly repaying head coach Liam Coen's trust.

Speaking of Coen, he credits Lawrence for the work he's put throughout the season, noting that he's been dialing up plenty of deep shots in practice.

Yeah, I think we have worked pretty hard, I would say, and throughout the whole season, in practice, watching tape and really trying to detail and get more reps at throwing the ball down the field," Coen said when asked about Lawrence's confidence throwing the deep ball (2:38). "We've been pretty diligent about every Wednesday in our Mamba, going and throwing the ball. Just, let's throw a go ball, like, let's just keep throwing it down the field a little bit, and then again this Thursday, we try to do the same thing with him and BT on the first play of Mamba again."

Coen continued, "So we've tried, we've worked at it. Credit these guys for sticking with it and continuing to have confidence in each other, right, and each other to go make plays. So, you know, I think that us being able to run it may have helped in some of those, but really, a few of those were just like those guys going out and making huge plays."

The Jaguars are now 9-4 and in first place in the AFC South. If Trevor Lawrence keeps improving a deep playoff run shouldn't be out of the question.
