Ever since the Jacksonville Jaguars traded up to select Travis Hunter second overall in the NFL Draft, he's become the talk of the town. During Memorial Weekend, he made headlines because he tied the knot, but there was another reason he made the news.

Around the same time he got married, a clip of him surprising a fan made rounds on social media. Head coach Liam Coen was recently asked about the interaction and had nothing but praise for the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner.

Coen met with the local media after Day 4 of Jaguars Organized Team Activities and said that Hunter tends to be friendly even with people he doesn't really interact with. That's just who the rookie is.

"Yeah, that's pretty cool to hear. I hadn't heard that," Liam told the press corps. "That's pretty cool. It's in alignment with who he is. You know, that's who he is kind of out here. I'm sure he probably goes up to some coaches and people on the field that he may not even have had many interactions with, and gives them a fist bump or, you know, high fives. And that's kind of just who he is. Pretty cool to hear that story."

One thing that stands out about Hunter, aside from his playmaking skills, is his contagious energy and personality. People gravitate toward him because of his casual demeanor and because he'll never pretend to be someone who's not.

Following his graduation, Hunter got the spotlight because he was friendly to fellow passenger Sandy Hawkins Combs, who didn't know who he was. Instead of being offended or arrogant about it, he was nice to her and even helped her with her baggage.

And the only reason everyone found out it's that she posted about their interaction on Facebook. Had she kept it to herself, not many people would have learned about it. Here's a video of him having fun during OTAs, via Juston W. Lewis of the Florida Times-Union.

Travis Hunter has begun to participate on Jaguars defensive meetings

General manager James Gladstone told the media that Travis Hunter would start his onboarding process on offense and would get a bigger workload at cornerback as the regular season came closer. Liam Coen said that he began to attend defensive meetings on Day 1 of OTAs.

"It was good, you know? I mean, he's still learning. He's been learning a ton defensively and offensively, as we know, but that was more so fundamentals, techniques. It wasn't a ton of 11-on-11; it was more fundamentals, techniques, communication. That was what that kind of last Wednesday was. And he's been learning with those guys, and meet with them extra as he's needed to," Coen said.

So far, Hunter has only taken reps on offense when the media has shown up to practice, but he's putting in the work, as Coen noted.

Because of all the headlines he gets off the field, it's easy to forget that Travis Hunter rose to prominence because of his football skills. However, he's putting his head down and working hard, so his play does all the talking once the season comes.
