The Jacksonville Jaguars hired Liam Coen to stabilize the offense and the franchise. Could his genius lead the Jags into the postseason? The Trevor Lawrence era was off to a rocky start already. The former Clemson Tiger is on his third coaching staff, entering his fifth year in the NFL.

The Urban Meyer and Doug Pederson eras were failures, but there has been new hope with Liam Coen and the youthful presence he brings. Coen isn't just some guy, either. He had a hugely successful 2024 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as their offensive coordinator.

And when you dig into the numbers a bit, the Jags could benefit from Coen's offensive genius all the way to the postseason.

Liam Coen is an offensive mastermind and could lead the Jacksonville Jaguars to the playoffs

Let's not pretend that the Jaguars don't have talent on offense - former general manager Trent Baalke was mostly a disaster, but there is some talent here on the roster. His successor, James Gladstone, has been able to stabilize the weak spots and set the team up for the long term.

Well, Liam Coen could also play a huge part in that, as his offense in 2024 was elite. Tampa ranked fourth in points scored with 29.5 per game. They ranked third in total yards, third in passing yards per game, and fourth in rushing yards per game.

No matter how you slice it, the Bucs' offense was elite, and Coen was able to get the most out of Baker Mayfield. The veteran threw for 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns. Sure, the 2025 Jags don't have the talent that the 2024 Buccaneers did, but the potential for high-end production is absolutely there.

Liam Coen does have some weaponry to use with guys like Brian Thomas Jr, Travis Hunter, Brenton Strange, and perhaps the encouraging Tank Bigsby. Furthermore, the Jaguars could be a legitimate contender in the AFC South. Both Indianapolis and Tennessee are going to be non-factors in 2025 due to their QB situation.

And with the Houston Texans potentially not figuring out their offensive line, the Jaguars could ride a prolific Liam Coen-led offense on another magical run to the postseason, perhaps showing shades of their breakout season in 2022.
