Injuries held Travon Walker back in 2025. However, the Jacksonville Jaguars are confident he can bounce back, as evidenced by the four-year extension worth $110 million he inked to remain in Duval. Of course, higher expectations come with his new deal.

Earlier this year, head coach Liam Coen stated that he wanted Walker to be like Aaron Donald in terms of how he approaches practices. So far, it looks like the former Georgia Bulldog has delivered on his end of the bargain.

The Jaguars are thrilled with how Travon Walker has attacked the offseason program

Liam Coen met with the local media after the last day of minicamp. He said that he's pleased with Travon Walker's effort, noting that the pass rush has shown a noticeable improvement.

"The rush is very difficult to examine during this time, but I think Travon Walker showed up in a big way, especially when we got into some competitive situations, doing what I challenged him with, which was to dominate, and through the first two days of mini camp, he didn't lose many reps, so I think we got better," Coen told reporters when asked the areas in which the team has improved.

Just a couple days before Coen heaped praise on Walker, team reporter Kainani Stevens said that Walker brings toughness to the Jacksonville defense, noting the hand injury he sustained last year severely impacted his pass-rush capabilities. However, the Thomaston, Georgia native is now healthy and should once again give the Jaguars a one-two punch at defensive end opposite Josh Hines Allen.

Walker only logged 2.5 sacks in 2025, but he registered a combined 20 the prior two years. It's fair to assume that he'll once again cross the 10-sack mark now that he's fully healthy. Also working in his favor is that the Jags bolstered the interior defensive line with Albert Regis and Ruke Orhororo.

If the Jaguars can do a better job of creating pressure from the interior, Walker and Hines-Allen should have more favorable matchups to get after the quarterback.

Travon Walker is poised to be a game-changer for the Jaguars once again

Travon Walker probably won't make the Pro Bowl anytime soon, but there's no doubt that he's become a mainstay of the Jaguars defense. Not surprisingly, the pass rush suffered a step drop-off when he missed time last year.

Of course, the Jaguars need the rest of their pass rushers to also step up. Josh Hines-Allen does a good job of generating pressures, but he doesn't make nearly as many game-altering plays as the top pass rushers in the league. This doesn't mean that he's a bad player. Far from it, but the 2024 first-round pick most definitely needs to turn it up a notch next season, something he expects to do.

The truth is that the pass rush has been a question mark for the Jaguars throughout the offseason, but if Travon Walker and Josh Hines-Allen get back to form, and a No. 3 emerges to round out their rotation, they're not going to have trouble bringing the heat next season.
