The Jacksonville Jaguars tried their best to repel the Buffalo Bills in Wild Card Weekend but ultimately came up short. Simply, the Bills were the better team, but there's no shame in that. After all, the Jags went from bottom-dweller to a playoff team and division champion in just one season. Looking back, there were several reasons for the turnaround, and Liam Coen was certainly the biggest one.
However, Coen wouldn't have been able to steer the ship in the right direction if he hadn't had lots of talent at his disposal. Trevor Lawrence, for one, showed huge improvement under his tutelage, but he was far from the only player who showed out in 2025.
For instance, Parker Washington became a key contributor on offense, and you could see just how dominant he was in the loss to the Bills. Following the game, Coen himself acknowledged just how much the third-year receiver grew in the regular season.
Liam Coen praises Parker Washington for becoming a core contributor for the Jaguars
Liam Coen met with the local media after the Bills game and praised Parker Washington, noting that he had a breakout season.
"Yeah, great season, especially towards the tail end," Coen told reporters (3:02 mark), "You know, just didn't, you know, he just continued to rise to the occasion. He's such a tough competitor, played his ass off. Appreciate Parker to the fullest, and look forward to working with him in the future."
Washington had a team-best seven receptions for 107 yards with one touchdown against Buffalo. He reeled in a jaw-dropping catch in the second quarter.

Later in the fourth quarter, he hauled in a pass that Tony Romo called one of the best ones in Trevor Lawrence's career.

For the season, Washington hauled in a team-high 58 receptions for 847 yards with five touchdowns. The past two years, he mostly lined up in the slot but showed in 2025 that he can also succeed in the boundaries.

Parker Washington was a bright spot for the Jaguars in 2025
Even though Parker Washington did enough in 2024 to show he deserved a bigger role, you wouldn't have guessed that he was going to become the team's top receiver this past season. Sure, he was going to step in the slot to replace Christian Kirk but was part of a crowded receiver room that included Dyami Brown, Brian Thomas Jr., and Travis Hunter.
Washington simply put his head down and got to work. By training camp, he had already generated buzz that he could earn a prominent role on offense, and when the regular season came, the former Penn State Nittany Lion delivered when he was granted opportunities.
The Jaguars ultimately should feel good about the state of their wide receiver corps ahead of the offseason. Having locked up Jakobi Meyers, two-way star Travis Hunter slated to return from knee surgery, and Parker Washington leading the way, Trevor Lawrence will have no shortage of weapons in 2025.
