Everyone’s favorite high-flying daredevil leaped into the number two spot in a recent The Athletic vote for the funniest mascots in the NFL. Jaxson De Ville has long been one of the league’s most recognizable mascots and a cornerstone of Jacksonville Jaguars culture. He finished just behind the Indianapolis Colts’ mascot, “Blue,” further fueling a rivalry that stretches well beyond the football field.
Jaxson is no stranger to the limelight; he is a rebel without a cause whose sole purpose is to entertain the Duval faithful. Whether it's bungee jumping from the stadium rafters, rocking an American Flag speedo, or crashing an opponent’s celebration, everyone's favorite anthropomorphic Jaguar is willing to put it all on the line to keep the energy high in Jacksonville. These are just some of the antics that make Jaxson a Hall of Famer.

Energy is everything in football. The players feed off it, and the fans feed off each other. Jax, the self-proclaimed “Best Mascot in Sports,” is the face of the Jaguars fanbase. He’s wild, bombastic, and every bit as unapologetic as Jags fans themselves.
When Jacksonville is winning, he’s the first to rub it in the opponent’s face. And when the Jags are down, he’s front and center, rallying the crowd, firing off antics, and making sure that even if the scoreboard isn’t in our favor, the energy in Jacksonville always is.
As The Athletic put it:
"If this is the only thing that British onlookers know about the Jags, well, that seems wholly appropriate"Steven Louis Goldstein

This speaks to the reach that Jaxson De Ville has. Even fans overseas can appreciate the flying feline risking one of his nine lives to keep crowds entertained and make sure everyone in attendance has a show to remember. He’s more than a mascot — he’s an icon, a legend, and the heart and soul of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
As for Blue, the so-called “funniest mascot,” his days are numbered. Sure, the Colts’ mascot can get a laugh here and there, but he’s a one-trick pony — those hip thrusts only go so far. Meanwhile, I’ve seen Jaxson putting in the work. He’s been grinding in the lab, day in and day out, not just to claim the number one spot, but to keep fans fired up, the DUUUVAL chants loud, and the energy sky-high.
That’s the kind of support the Jags will need as they kick off division play against their AFC South rivals, the Houston Texans, when they face them in Week 3.
