The Jacksonville Jaguars may not have walked away from Week 2 with a win, particularly due to less-than-stellar play from quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Yet there is a good chance for the Jags to rebound in Week 3 against the Houston Texans, despite their formidable defense.
Houston's offense has been struggling, their their defense is still strong - particularly their pass rush. But Jacksonville has an underrated weapon hiding in plain sight: their incredible offensive line.
This is a pretty big surprise, considering the offensive line was not great in 2024; while they did well with pass protection, they struggled with run blocking, and at best, wallowed in mediocrity. But the unit has turned itself around in a huge way.
The Jaguars offensive line is one of the best in the league
Looking ahead to Week 3, Pro Football Network rated every team's offensive line, with Jacksonville's coming in at #2. Using their grading system, the Jaguars received an A+ for the season so far, and is the most highly-rated unit in the league.
For Week 2 specifically, though, the offensive line came in just behind the Denver Broncos, who strangely squeaked ahead to the #1 spot. But regardless, it sends a clear message: this offensive line is elite.
"In what may be a slight surprise for some, the Jaguars’ offensive line has been retooled, reimagined, and vastly improved for the 2025 season. The Jags are allowing a pressure just 4.08 seconds after the snap (fourth) while holding top-four figures in every other pressure rate category this season.Pro Football Network
On the ground, however, is where they shine. They’ve paved way for 1.4 yards before contact on their carries this season, the second-best average in the league so far in 2025."
This will be a vital key to a Jaguars victory over the Texans on Sunday. After all, C.J. Stroud and the Houston offense has been far from productive so far this season. It's a huge shock, as most analysts went into 2025 ready to hand the AFC South champion title to Houston before a game was even played. Instead, the Texans are 0-2 and the Jaguars are battling the Indianapolis Colts for the top of the division.
But while the Texans' offense has struggled, they still have Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter there to cause all kinds of problems on defense. They are among the best pass rush duo in the league, and considering that Lawrence struggled in Week 2, a strong offensive line will be incredibly important to containing them.
And fans know now that this unit is absolutely up to the task.
