With a Super Bowl champion crowned, the NFL has officially turned the page to next season. For a team like the Jacksonville Jaguars, that means making the necessary improvements that will take them from a 13-4 team that lost a close game in the Wild Card round, to a team that’s playing in the final game of the season.

Those improvements for the Jaguars will start in free agency, and one reporter is already envisioning the team adding another productive weapon to the offense. Greg Auman, in a recent piece for FOX Sports, ranked the top 100 free agents of 2026 and named some potential fits for them. Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton was ranked 74th on the list, and Auman believes Jacksonville makes sense as a landing spot.

While the Jaguars aren't truly in need of upgrades at tight end, they shouldn't pass up the opportunity to add as many playmakers as possible, and Otton most definitely fits the bill.

As Greg Auman detailed, Tampa Bay will likely want him back since they don’t have a replacement in waiting. However, if the Buccaneers are unable to give him the kind of contract he’s looking for, reuniting with Liam Coen in Jacksonville could be an option.

"The Bucs have precious little else at the position, so if they let him walk rather than pay $8 million a year or more, they'd have to invest in a proper replacement, either in free agency with limited options or in the draft. Jacksonville? A Liam Coen reunion might make sense."

In four years with the Bucs, Otton caught 207 passes for 2,018 yards and 11 touchdowns. His most productive season came in 2024, catching 59 passes for 600 yards and four touchdowns — all career highs. Tampa Bay’s offensive coordinator that season was Liam Coen.

Coen is now the head coach in Jacksonville and has quickly transformed the team into a contender. The Jaguars already have one productive tight end in Brenton Strange, who caught 46 passes for 540 yards and three touchdowns in just 12 games last season. However, teams have found a lot of success when having two productive tight ends, so Coen could be gifted another weapon — one that he has familiarity with — and make Jacksonville’s offense even more dangerous.

The Jaguars have bigger needs than tight end ahead of free agency, but Liam Coen knows firsthand just how much of a game-changer Cade Otton is. If possible, he shouldn't hesitate to arrange a reunion.
