Being a head coach is a demanding job, one that hardly leaves time for much else. However, Liam Coen found a way to take care of himself after joining the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2025. And just one year later, he looks in great shape. This makes his success with the Jags look even more inspiring.

Just recently, NFL legend J.J. Watt shared some insight into Coen's weight loss journey.

J.J. Watt says Jaguars EVP Tony Boselli made Liam Coen lose weight

During a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, J.J. Watt said that Tony Bosell made Liam Coen lose weight, noting that he wasn't in good shape when the Jags hired him as the head coach.

"Plenty of insight into Liam Coen's weight loss, though. I mean, it's a ridiculous topic to have a lot of knowledge on, but I do," Watt told Pat McAfee. "We had him multiple times this year, and it came up multiple times. There was Boselli, when he got there, like, the very first day that Coen got there, Boselli was like, You got to get in shape. It's ridiculous, you cannot look like that."

Watt continued, "He got him in the gym with him in the mornings. And he was like, they went through, like, a gym routine and, like, nutrition stuff, and then Cohen just, he switched it to the afternoon, because he was working in the morning, but he worked out all year long. And, yeah, I think he said he's down 40 pounds."

Here's a picture of Coen when he became the head coach for the Jags. You can tell he was on the chubby side of things.

And here's a clip of him during an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show. You can tell his face looks sharper.

The Jaguars went 13-4 in Coen's first season at the helm. Players such as Trevor Lawrence bounced back, and the team improved in nearly every meaningful category.

Liam Coen deserves plenty of praise for finding balance with the Jaguars

As noted before, coaching is a grueling job where you need to put in plenty of hours. The fact that Liam Coen was able to take care of his health while leading the Jaguars to the AFC South title and the playoffs shouldn't go unnoticed.

In fact, that kind of drive is precisely why Coen had success in his first season with Jacksonville, and why he's a candidate for the NFL Coach of the Year.

It's great to see Liam Coen have so much success in both his personal and professional life.
