The Jacksonville Jaguars could use help at wide receiver after placing two-way star Travis Hunter on Injured Reserve. Sure, they managed to beat the Las Vegas Raiders with their current group, but they have tougher defenses left in their schedule, so it makes sense to add another weapon to Trevor Lawrence's arsenal before the trade deadline.

Jakobi Meyers is the most logical trade candidate, but Jaylen Waddle and Rashid Shaheed would be intriguing options. If the Jags aren't high on any of them or fail to trade for them, alumn Jimmy Smith might have just offered a legitimate alternative.

The Jaguars are being urged to trade for Malik Heat

Jaguars legend Jimmy Smith posted on Twitter that Jacksonville should target Green Bay Packers receiver Malik Heath when another user noted that they had reached out to inquire about Romeo Doubs.

When asked for a reason to trade for Heath, Smith simply said that, "he checks all the boxes."

An undrafted free agent in 2023, Heath signed with the Packers and managed to earn a roster spot as a rookie. He was a dependable contributor the past two years, hauling in 25 catches for 222 yards with three touchdowns on 37 targets. This season, though, the former Ole Miss Rebel has been a non-factor, catching just six passes for 86 yards.

Heck, Heath was seen as a trade candidate before the regular season because the Packers were stacked at receiver. And with the headline approaching, he's once again the subject of speculation precisely because there may not be room for him in Green Bay, but the third-year pro could help other teams in need of help at the position.

This begs the question, should the Jaguars trade for Heath? It truly depends on what they want. After all, it wouldn't be cost-prohibitive to acquire him, but he's more of a No. 3 or No. 4. If the Jags are looking for depth, he would be the ideal acquisition. But if they want a playmaker, they'll need to look somewhere else.

Malik Heath would be a cost-effective option for the Jaguars

The Jaguars are dealing with injuries at receiver. Aside from Travis Hunter, they could be without Dyami Brown after he suffered a concussion in the win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Similarly, Tim Patrick has missed two consecutive games with a groin injury.

Heading into the Texans game, Parker Washington and Brian Thomas Jr. are the Jags' top receivers. Austin Trammell is the No. 3, and there's a chance Tim Jones will once be elevated to the active roster. If the team's brass traded for Malik Health, their depth would suddenly look much better, or at least, not nearly as dire. Couple that with the fact that it would probably take a seventh to get a deal done, and it totally makes sense.

Now, the Jaguars may ultimately choose to roll with their current group of receivers, but there's no doubt that Malik Heath would most definitely give them a boost.
