Two-way star Travis Hunter is having a smooth transition to the pros and is doing it while learning the nuances of two different positions. So far, he's had no trouble handling everything the Jacksonville Jaguars have thrown at him. Not surprisingly, he's picked a nickname that shows just how unique he is.
Pete Prisco of CBS Sports had a sitdown with Hunter and asked him to pick a nickname that reflects the fact that nobody does what he does. The West Palm Beach native chose "The Unicorn." Below is the clip.

The nickname is fitting because Hunter is the first player in the modern NFL era expected to play on both sides of the ball full-time. He may or may not pull it off, but he's most definitely preparing as if he will. To make it happen, the former Colorado Buffalo says that he has the right mindset and puts in the work.
"Just my mental, you have to have the mindset going into it," Hunter told Prisco when asked how he can play two ways. "You got to have the right knowledge. You got to understand what you're doing, you got to take care of your body too."
After their exchange, Prisco posted on social media that watching Travis Hunter practice, pointing out he has endless stamina.
"Travis Hunter is unreal the way he runs and runs all day. If he's working on offense on a day, he will work with the defensive coach during special teams time. And it will be visa-versa on the days he works with the defense. The team raves about his stamina," Prisco wrote.

Travis Hunter is turning heads at Jaguars training camp
The Jacksonville Jaguars deserve praise for laying out a detailed plan for Travis Hunter's development. On the other hand, it's worth recognizing that not many players, if any, would be able to pull off what he's doing.
After mostly getting reps at receiver during the offseason program, Hunter has switched back and forth between offense and defense in training camp. So far, the transition has been seamless, and he's wasted no time making a strong impression in training camp.
Following Day 6 of practice, John Shipley of Sports Illustrated reported that Hunter is thriving, noting that he's been building consistency throughout training camp.
"Travis Hunter has put together an impressive string of practices. After dominating at cornerback on Sunday, Hunter has spent the last two days at wide receiver and arguably has had his best practice yet on the offensive side of the ball on Sunday, hauling in several impressive grabs and proving to be a tough cover for the team's best defensive backs," Shipley wrote.
Looking back, it's easy to see why the Jacksonville Jaguars didn't hesitate to give up first and second-round picks to trade up for Hunter in the NFL Draft. Heck, you could even make the case that their investment is already paying dividends. This, in turn, makes the cost of moving up a few spots worth it.
Granted, Travis Hunter has yet to play a down in a regular-season game, but the arrow is pointing in the right direction. If he performs like he has so far, there's no doubt that he'll make an immediate impact for the Jags.
