One of the biggest storylines surrounding the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason is whether Travis Hunter can get back on track after having his rookie campaign ended prematurely.
The former Heisman Trophy winner was just beginning to hit his stride when he suffered an LCL injury in November. He underwent surgery not long after and has spent the months ahead of the 2026 season recovering.
Early in 2026, general manager James Gladstone said that Hunter was ahead of schedule in his recovery. A recent update just proved him right.
The Jaguars will get Travis Hunter back for training camp
Cameron Wolfe of NFL Media reports that Travis Hunter will be back at full strength for training camp, noting that playing cornerback full-time will allow him to turn into an All-Pro.
"Yeah, the Travis Hunter show is just getting started. I know there's been a lot of talk about where he will and won't play, and how much a usage. Look, he's ready to be unleashed and show why they drafted him No. 2 overall," Wolfe said. "Talking to people there down in Jacksonville, he's running over 20 miles per hour, which was faster than he ran before that knee injury. He's cutting. He's in great shape. He should be full go for training camp, and he is still going to play both sides of the ball."
Wolfe continued, "The cool thing for Travis Hunter and the Jags is now they can unleash him as a starter on defense, and the goal is to eventually have him play nearly all the snaps on defense in a particular game. And they think he can be elite on that side of the ball. I had one coach with the Jaguars tell me if he can continue to develop and show what he started the show last year. You guys, the media, are going to be talking about him as a top-10 cornerback this time next year. That's their belief in him. That's why they are putting commitment in him playing that much on defense."
Last year, Hunter played 67 percent of the total snaps on offense and just 36 percent on defense. But despite his increased role at corner next season, he will still get playing time on offense.
"He will still play a lot on offense and make an impact on that, but it may fluctuate game to game. Maybe you have a 40 percent snap game one week based on the opponent and the game plan, and maybe another week it may be 60 to 70 percent," Wolfe said.
Below is Wolfe's exchange where he outlines the Jags' plan for Hunter.

Wolfe's update isn't particularly surprising when you take into account that the Jaguars have stated they expect Hunter back for training camp. Similarly, they've been adamant about him still playing two-ways in spite of the abrupt end to his rookie year.
The Jaguars are ready to unleash Travis Hunter on defense
Travis Hunter spent more time learning how to play receiver because of how complex the position is, but he may be a much better fit at corner. Benjamin Solak of ESPN, for one, believes that's where he can reach his potential. Based on Wolfe's comments, the Jaguars appear to agree. That said, the West Palm Beach native will also offer massive value on offense.
With Parker Washington, Brian Thomas Jr., and Jakobi Meyers drawing coverage away from him, Hunter will face several favorable matchups.
When you add it all up, the Jaguars are setting Travis Hunter up to fulfill their two-way vision.
