The Jacksonville Jaguars could be buyers ahead of the November 10 deadline. They could use upgrades at a handful of positions, including cornerback and defensive tackle. On the other hand, the Jags could also be sellers. Specifically, they could make wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. available, and precisely because they can afford to trade Thomas, a rumor linking them to Josh Down simply doesn't make sense.
A content creator on social media suggested that the Jags are among the teams interested in trading for Josh Downs. Even though no credible NFL insider or reporter has confirmed the rumor, it's spread like wildfire. And that's the thing, the Colts may in fact be willing to trade the fifth-year receiver. That much is true. After all, Indy just dealt guard Quenton Nelson and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers, respectively, as part of a fire sale.
After the ousting of general manager Chris Ballard, the Colts will need to rebuild the roster next year and will need as many assets as possible to make it happen. That's why nearly everyone on their roster, including Downs, may be available. Having said that, there's one obvious reason why Jacksonville wouldn't be a landing spot for him.

Why it woudn't make sense for the Jaguars to trade for Josh Downs
You could make the case that just because no credible source has reported that the Jaguars are indeed interested in Josh Downs doesn't mean that they wouldn't make a push for him. But this rumor simply doesn't pass the eye test.
Leaving aside that the Colts may not be willing to trade any of their players to a division foe (they might if the price is right), the Jaguars have options to replace Brian Thomas Jr. if they deal him.
Heck, rookie Josh Cameron has been highly productive and has moved ahead of Thomas on the depth chart. Similarly, two-way star Travis Hunter flashed his playmaking skills at receiver, hauling in four catches for 44 yards with one touchdown in the loss to the Houston Texans. But wait, there's more!
CJ Williams had a strong offseason and could earn a role if Thomas is out of the picture. If that wasn't enough, Jacksonville could promote Michael Wortham or Trebor Pena from the practice squad.
When you add it all up, the Jaguars aren't simply a viable trade destination for Josh Downs. Make no mistake, He could help a myriad of teams who are in dire need of wide receiver help, but the Jags aren't one of them simply because they're stacked at reciever.
Heck, a club that wants Brian Thomas Jr. but misses out on him may want to target Josh Down.
