The Jacksonville Jaguars are beginning to take care of business ahead of free agency. While they've yet to secure running back Travis Etienne, linebacker Devin Lloyd, or cornerback Montaric Brown, they've just locked up one underrated contributor who was slated to hit the open market.
Days before the free agency frenzy commences, the Jags have re-signed tight end Quintin Morris. This makes sense after his quiet ascension last year. The signing won't take the league by storm, but it is one of the under-the-radar moves that will help Jacksonville pick up where it left off in 2025.
The Jaguars re-sign Quintin Morris to a one-year deal
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports that the Jaguars have given Quintin Morris a one-year deal worth up to $3 million. Ryan O'Hallaran of The Florida Times-Union later confirmed the news. Last season, Morris made $1.1 million after landing in Jacksonville following the NFL Draft.
An undrafted free agent in 2021, Morris spent his rookie season in the Buffalo Bills practice squad. It wasn't until 2022 that he got playing time. The Bowling Green product ended up appearing in 45 games with four starts across three seasons with the Bills.
As noted before, Morris signed with the Jags last offseason. He didn't make the initial 53-man roster, but was signed to the practice squad. The Richmond, Texas native was called up to the active roster three times. He was eventually signed to the roster permanently after making an impression when he was thrust into action.
In four NFL seasons, Morris has appeared in 59 games with nine starts, reeling in 21 catches for 2021 catches with four passing touchdowns.

Why the Jaguars made the right call when they re-signed Quintin Morris
The Jaguars still have their work cut out before free agency begins, but re-signing Quintin Morris was a good start.
Brenton Strange remains the unquestioned starter, but Morris quickly became a key contributor after working his way up the depth chart. He didn't see much action as a pass catcher, finishing the season with six catches for 55 yards on nine targets. Nevetheless, his pass-blocking skills allowed him to carve a key niche on offense.
While fellow tigth ends Johnny Mundt and Hunter Long logged more snaps, 389 and 314, respectively, Morris outplayed both of them as the season progressed. This is the news that Jacksonville brought him back shouldn't come as a surprise.
Throughout the regular season, head coach Liam Coen and his staff routinely heaped praise on Morris, noting that the veteran tight end was helping the team fill a key yet unsung role. Now, he'll have a chance to build off his promising first season in Duval.
Now that the Jags have Morris under contract for at least one more season, they can turn their attention to the next topic on their top-do list: Make a decision on the trio of Montaric Brown, Devin Lloyd, and Travis Etienne.
