Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence has classy response for Texans fan who mocked him

• It's never ok to wish harm to players of opposing teams.

The dirty hit linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair laid on Trevor Lawrence has dominated the conversation in the aftermath of the Week 13 matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Houston Texans. The fourth-year quarterback left with a concussion, and hours later, thanked everyone for the support they had shown him. However, one Texans fan thought it would be funny to make fun of what was a scary situation, and No. 16 wasted no time responding to him.

On a now-deleted tweet on social media, a fan posted a GIF of a UFC repeatedly getting hit on the head in response to Lawrence's original message. The Jaguars fanbase wasted no time calling him out. Similarly, the quarterback caught wind of the tasteless comment, and let him know:

"I'm sure you're a great example for your son. God Bless you bro," Lawrence said on social media.

The comment was referencing the fact that the Texans fan had a picture of him and his son as his Twitter avatar. He has since deleted the response too. Maybe he felt he went too far, or that he was the higher man, but the truth is that the clapback wasn't disrespectful. Fortunately, the Twitter account Folio Weekly was able to take a screenshot of the exchange.

All this ensued after Al-Shaair delivered a cheap shot on Lawrence early in the Week 10 game. He stayed on the ground for a bit before he was carted off the field. Right after the hit, Jaguars teammates stood up for their quarterback. Fans also threw objects at the linebacker when he was ejected, letting him know how they felt when he was ejected to the game.

The general response of the NFL community toward Al-Shaair's dirty hit has been disapproval and even condemnation. Some fans or analysts have argued that Lawrence slid and the linebacker couldn't avoid him, but he was leading with his elbow.

Moreover, Al-Shaair acted as if he were the victim following the hit when he was actually the one who instigated the whole situation.

Azeez Al-Shaair apology for the hit on Jaguars QB Trevor Larwence fell short

One day after the loss to the Houston Texans, Azeez Al-Shaair posted an apology on Twitter, pointing out that it was never his intention to hurt Trevor Lawrence and hope the Jaguars quarterback was fine.

The apology would've sounded more sincere if Al-Shaair didn't have a history of dirty plays. This season alone, he also laid a cheap shot on Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams in Week 2. In the same game, he punched running back Roschon Johnson and got a hefty fine for it.

Based on his history, there's a strong chance that Al-Shaair will get a suspension from the NFL. Hopefully, it will make him reconsider his approach to playing. Granted, football is an inherently violent sport, but actively trying to hurt opposing players has no place in the sport.

The bottom line is that Azeez Al-Shaair's actions have no place in the NFL. The same is true for the tasteless message the Texans fan posted in response to Trevor Lawrence's positive message.
