Jaguars official 53-man roster includes UDFA but leaves 2 veteran O-Linemen out

After pitching a shutout in the preseason finale, the Jacksonville Jaguars turned their attention to trimming down their roster from 90 players to 53. They spent the next 36 hours or so making moves to ensure that they put together the best possible team. They accomplished their goal.

Like most years, there are a few surprises and a few duds. This year was no different. And with this in mind, here's how the Jaguars' initial 53-man roster for the 2026 season looks.

Official Jaguars 53-man roster: Special teams (3)

Kicker Cam Little, punter Logan Cooke, long snapper Ross Matiscik

These three were locks to make the team, but you knew that. Heck, they won't go anywhere in the foreseeable future.

Official Jaguars 53-man roster: Defense (26)

Defensive ends (6): Travon Walker, Josh-Hines-Allen, B.J. Green II, Danny Striggow, Wesley Williams, Bryan Thomas Jr.

This is probably the first surprise of the roster. Bryan Thomas Jr. always seemed like a good bet to make the team after catching fire in the preseason. However, it was interesting to think about how the Jaguars would build their defensive end group. By placing Zach Durfee on the Injured Reserve, they paved the way for Thomas to make the cut.

Now, the Jags have a well-rounded pass rush rotation, which was a concern in the offseason. Travon Walker and Josh Hines-Allen remain the starters, and B.J. Green will seemingly be the No. 3, but Striggow, Williams and Thomas should also carve out a role.

Defensive tackle (5): Arik Armstead, Albert Regis, DaVon Hamilton, Ruke Orhorhoro, Matt Dickerson

Defensive tackle isn't a strength, but it isn't a weakness either. Arik Armstead is back despite the noise. Matt Dickerson also managed to make the team despite the fact that he seemed like a cut candidate earlier this year.

Albert Regis could be DaVon Hamilton's heir apparent, and Ruke Orhorhoro flashed pass-rush potential in the preseason.

Linebacker (5): Foyesade Oluokun, Dennis Gardeck, Jahlani Tavai, Branson Combs, Ventrell Miller

The biggest twist here was watching Jacksonville waive Yasir Abdullah. It looked like the former Louisville Cardinal was going to make the cut after his impressive preseason showing, but he was ultimately shown the door.

With Abdullah out of the picture, Tavai managed to get the nod.

Cornerbacks (5): Travis Hunter, Montaric Brown, Christian Braswell, Jordan Lewis, Jarrian Jones

The Jaguars threw a curveball when they released Jabbbar Muhammad. Although the sophomore cornerbac flashed throughout the offseason, his bid for a roster spot ultimately came up short. The Jags choose to roll with Christian Braswell, probably because of his experience and versatility.

Montaric Brown and Travis Hunter will start in the boundaries, but Jourdan Lewis and Jarrian Jones could line up in the perimeter if needed.

Safeties (5): Antonio Johnson, Eric Murray, Jalen Huskey, Rayuan Lane II, Caleb Ransaw

The biggest addition to the safety unit was Jalen Huskey in the 2026 draft. Other than that, the group from last year returns. The only difference is that Andrew Wingard is out, and Antonio Johnson and Eric Murray are the starters.

Also, Caleb Ransaw is back and ready to make an impact after missing his rookie season with a leg injury.

Initial Jaguars 53-man roster: Offense (24)

Quarterbacks (2): Trevor Lawrence, Quinn Ewers

Here comes another surprise. Then again, it was kind of expected. The Jaguars may not have been thrilled with their depth at quarterback, so they traded for Quinn Ewers in exchange for a sixth-round selection in 2026.

The team's brass surely thinks that Ewers is an upgrade over Nick Mullens, who was released just one day after the trade.

Ewers certainly has opside, and at an annual average of $1.32 milion the next three years, he could turn out to be a huge addition.

By the way, Trevor Lawrence remains the starter, that won't chance after the arrival of Ewers.

Running backs (4): LeQuint Allen Jr., Ameer Abdullah, Bhayshul Tuten, Chris Rodriguez Jr.

The Jaguars gave DeeJay Dallas plenty of chances to make an impression but ultimately couldn't take advantage of them. He was on the outside looking in. But even without him, Jacksonville is loaded at running back.

Bhayshul Tuten and Chris Rodriguez will form a dynamic tandem. LeQuint Allen Jr. will carve out a niche as the passing-downs specialist, but during his absence, veteran Ameer Abdullah will hold the fort.

Wide receiver (5): Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, Jakobi Meyers, CJ Williams, Josh Cameron

The Jaguars had a "burden of choice" kind of situation going at receiver. Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, and Jakobi Meyers were always going to make the roster. CJ Williams and Josh Cameron also earned a spot after a strong offseason.

Unfortunately, the Jags had no room for preseason starts Michael Wortham and Trebor Pena. Both undrafted rookies shone, but there was no room for either one. Maybe they can clear waivers and return on the practice squad.

Tight ends (4): Nate Boerkircher, Brenton Strange, Tanner Kozoil, Quintin Morris

The Jaguars traded Hunter Long to the Arizona Cardinals before the cutdown deadline. That left Quintin Morris as the only other tough decision at tight end. Now, we know that he made the cut.

Brenton Strange remains the starter, but Nate Boerkircher and Tanner Koziol could get ample playing time next season.

Offensive linemen (9): Walker Little, Cole Van Lanen, Daniel Faalele, Wyatt Milum, Anton Harrison, Ezra Cleveland, Emmanuel Pregnon, Robert Hainsey, Jonah Monheim

The Jaguars deal with several injuries during the preseason, but they're getting healthy as the regular season approaches. It also helps that they brought in reinforcements, trading for Daniel Faalele in return for a sixth-round selection.

The biggest question mark is Patrick Mekari. He didn't make the cut, so it's possible that the Jaguars are placing him on either the Injured Reserve list or the Physically Unable to perform list. Also, Chuma Edoga was given the boot, even though his odds of sticking around increased because of injuries.
