The past few months, the Jacksonville Jaguars have made an effort to get rid of all the underperforming players former general manager Trent Baalke brougth in.
Back in the spring, the Jags moved on from wide receiver Christian Kirk and tight end Evan Engram. Then, the draft came, and they released free-agent bust Gabriel Davis. More recently, the new regime traded 2022 third-round pick Luke Fortner and released Chad Muma. Their next roster cut is abundantly clear.

Update: the Jaguars released Javon Foster, along with defensive tackle Jordan Jefferson.
The Jaguars no longer need Javon Foster
Trent Baalke came out of the 2024 NFL Draft with three pretty good players: Budding star Brian Thomas Jr., the reliable Cam Little, and defensive tackle Maason Smith, who's poised to keep making strides after a strong finish to his rookie campaign. That said, the embattled general manager also selected a few duds.
Already, the Jags sent fifth-round pick DeAntre Prince packing, and fourth-round pick Javon Foster should be next. However you look at it, there's simply no room for the sophomore offensive tackle.
Foster was 23 ahead of the 2024 draft, meaning that he was a bit older than most rookies. He didn't have much room for growth in the NFL, and it showed last year. The Detroit, Michigan native was a healthy scratch several times throughout the season despite the fact that the Jags needed help on the offensive line.
Then, the new regime came and proceeded to bolster the offensive trenches. At offensive tackle, in particular, they added Fred Johnson and Chuma Edoga. Couple that with the presence of Cole Van Lanen, and Foster was on the outside looking in.
But despite a crowded offensive line, Foster got a fair shake. He wasn't able to take advantage of his fresh start. He hardly ever stood out in the offseason and didn't do much of note in the preseason.
Now, Foster is at the bottom of the depth chart, and it's hard to see him making the team even after the team's brass traded Johnson to the Philadelphia Eagles. After all, Van Lanen is still around. Moreover, Edoga made an impression when he split reps with Anton Harrison in the offseason program.
The cutdown deadline is just a few hours away, as of this writing, and Foster probably won't survive the cut. And when the Jags move on from him, he'll be another step removed from the Trent Baalke era.
