Jaguars may have to deal with less-than-ideal weather vs. the Titans in Week 14
After being eliminated from the playoffs and placing Trevor Lawrence on Injured Reserve, the Jacksonville Jaguars enter Week 14 without much to play for. Sure, you could make the case that the Jags should start planning for the future, but they cannot simply skip forward to 2025. There are still five left, and they'll be looking to finish the season strong.
Head coach Doug Pederson is certainly disappointed things didn't play out the way Jacksonville expected, telling the media that there's not much he can do but finish strong.
"Disappointing, right? I mean, it's not what it's not what I expected. It's not the players expected the team, lot of high expectations, obviously, coming out of preseason where we were as a team and it's not, where we wanted to be," Pederson said when asked how he would characterize the season. "Not saying we were gonna... you'd love to be the number one team in the AFC right now."
Pederson continued, "But who knows? I mean, you could have been, you could have been in the top 7. You could have been in the top 10, top 3 whatever, but it's just, it's disappointing. For me, personally, for the team, and other players, will have to feel the same way. And gotta just take it all in stride and finish this season strong."
It's certainly been disappointing for the Jags, but they'll have to wait until the offseason to reflect. In the meantime, they'll face the Tennessee Titans in Wee 14. With that in mind, here's the weather report for the divisional bout.
What's the weather forecast for the Jaguars vs. the Titans in Week 14?
With winter around the corner, temperatures have started to drop. On top of that, there's a chance it will rain during the game. NFLWeather projects it will be 56 degrees Fahrenheit with a 21 percent chance of precipitation.
If it does rain, both teams will have trouble taking deep shots, and will need to lean on the running game and short passes. If that's the case, the Jags could lean on Tank Bigsby and Travis Etienne. Both are as healthy as they can be at this point of the season.
Having said that, Etienne and Bigsby could have trouble racking up yards, as they'll be facing a stout Tennessee defensive line that includes Jeffery Simmons, T'Vondre Sweat, Harold Landry III, and Arden Key.
On a related note, Mac Jones will start at quarterback in relief of Trevor Lawrence, who landed on Injured Reserve. He got off to a slow start when he was thrust into action against the Houston Texans but played much better as the game progressed. The Alabama product ended up completing 62.5 percent of his passes for 235 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Currently, the Titans are a 3.5-point favorite, but if the Jaguars play up to their talent, they could ultimately pull off the upset and win their third game of the season, even if the weather is less than optimal in Week 14.
