Injuries are bound to happen when competition ramps up in training camp. The Jacksonville Jaguars just suffered one on the first day of practice.
Brent Martineau of Action News Jax reported that sophomore linebacker Jack Kiser went down with an injury and left practice limping. ESPN's Michael DiRocco added that he was grabbing his knee when he was on the ground.
The Jags don't know how serious the injury is and currently don't have an update.

Liam Coen met with reporters after the first day of training camp. He says the Jaguars don't have an update on Jack Kiser, noting that he'll undergo tests to determine the severity of the injury.
"No update yet. He's getting looked, getting that picture tonight. Get an MRI tonight," Coen said about Kiser (7:19 mark). "We'll have a better idea. He wasn't like screaming or, you know, freaking out in pain. So very hopeful that it'll be shorter than longer, but you know really don't know exactly what it is at this time."
A fourth-round pick in the 2025 draft, Kiser played just 43 defensive snaps (5.0 percent of the team's total) as a rookie. He's set to compete for a bigger role at linebacker, perhaps the primary backup behind Foye Oluokun, in his second season.
If the former Notre Dame Fighting Irish misses time, he could tumble down the depth chart. On the other hand, he didn't appear to be on the roster bubble, so he should be safe.
The Jaguars can withstand Jack Kiser's potential absence
It's never good to see a player down with an injury, but the Jaguars have enough depth at linebacker if Jack Kiser has to miss time. During his absence, 2026 seventh-round pick Parker Hughes could get additional reps. Similarly, veteran Yasir Abdullah is in the mix and could step in as the primary backup. Either way, Jacksonville has options.
That said, it's too early to dismiss Kiser. Maybe he'll sit out a few practices, and that's it. If that's the case, he should have no trouble picking up where he left off. Worst-case scenario, the second-year linebacker could land on the Physically Unable to Perform list the remainder of training camp.
Based on Liam Coen's comments, though, the Jaguars hope Jack Kiser won't miss significant time. But if he does, they'll be prepared.
