The Jacksonville Jaguars have dealt with several ups and downs while revamping their coaching staff. But once they hired Liam Coen as the head coach, the process sped up considerably. That said, there's still plenty of work left.

After getting the nod, Coan wasted no time assembling his staff. Aside from keeping special teams coach Heath Farwell, the new Jaguars head coach hired Anthony Campanile to oversee the defense. Moreover, Roberto Angulo is returning as the tight ends coach after the Lions showed interest in poaching him.

Apart from taking care of Angulo, Jacksonville brought in a couple more coaches. Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reported that the Jags are hiring Matt Edward as their defensive line coach.

Later the same day, colleague Ian Rapoport broke the news that Jacksonville was hiring Tem Lukabu as the linebackers coach.

One day later, the Jaguars hired Green Bay Packers assistant Anthony Perkins as their secondary coach, according to Ian Rapoport.

On the other hand, the Jaguars still have to hire an offensive coordinator. Press Taylor bolted for the Chicago Bears and became their passing game coordinator. Then again, he wasn't expected to stay in Duval. In fact, Coen had already begun to look for his potential replacement.

The Jags kickstarted the process by meeting with Los Angeles Rams passing game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase. They then interviewed Washington Commanders quarterbacks coach Tavita Pritchard and Minnesota Vikings assistant quarterbacks coach Grant Udinksi for the opening.

One name Jacksonville can scratch off its wish list is former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly. He was linked to the job early on but has since accepted the same position with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Another vacancy the Jaguars will need to fill is the offensive line coach. They set their sights on Brian Picucci and Kevin Carberry, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers blocked both requests. For the time being, Cam Clemmons is in the front seat for the job.

The Jaguars should soon end the process

It's fair to say that the Jacksonville Jaguars lose out on some of their preferred choices for a handful of positions, including head coach, as they originally coveted Ben Johnson for the job. Having said that, things have worked out just fine for them. Liam Coen is no consolation prize and should have no trouble getting the offense going.

It's also worth noting that the Jags just hired Tony Boselli as their vice president of football operations. The former Pro Football Hall-of-Fame left tackle will help the organization find a new general manager. Ethan Waugh became the interim after Trent Baalke was dismissed.

The bottom line is that the Jags got off to a rough start to their coaching search, but Liam Coen's staff is quickly taking shape. Once they fill the remaining vacancies, they will be able to turn their attention to making upgrades to the roster in free agency and the draft.
