Jaguars just made a D-Line addition (but not the one fans had hoped)

While the Myles Garrett trade sent shockwaves across the NFL, the Jacksonville Jaguars quietly made an addition to their defensive line.

The Jags announced on the P/R Twitter account that they've signed defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna. This isn't the kind of move that will break the internet, but at least bolster their depth in the trenches.

A sixth-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2021, Bohanna has spent time with the Tennessee Titans, the Detroit Lions, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Green Bay Packers. In Jacksonville, he'll compete for a roster spot and a role in the rotation at defensive line.

Quinton Bohanna faces an uphill battle with the Jaguars

Quinton Bohanna struggled with the Seahawks in 2025. This led to his eventual release late in the year. He latched on with the Green Bay Packers but barely saw the field. In total, the former Kentucky Wildcat has appeared in 40 games with 13 starts throughout his five-year career in the NFL.

In Jacksonville, Bohanna will get a legitimate chance to bounce back. Then again, he'll have an uphill battle. It's hard to see him making the roster next season. Having said that, he'll add much-needed competition at defensive tackle, one of the team's biggest question marks after the NFL Draft.

Before the draft, Jacksonville traded for Ruke Orhorhoro and later selected Albert Regis at No. 88. The duo joins a group that includes veteran Arik Armstead and DaVon Hamilton. Matt Dickerson is also in the mix and may need to fend off Bohanna to stick around in 2026.

The Jaguars need to make another move after signing Quinton Bohanna

It's never a bad thing to add competition. After all, iron sharpens iron. Having said that, the Jaguars probably needed to take a bigger swing at either defensive tackle or the pass rush if they want to keep up in the AFC arms race.

It's hard to tell if either Ruke Orhorhoro or Alber Regis will make an immediate impact. Couple that with the fact that Arik Armstead cooled down as 2025 progressed, and Jacksonville may not be able to generate pressure from the interior. The issue is that there aren't many compelling options available in the open market or via trade. This is why it may make more sense to add reinforcements to the pass rush, as the Jaguars have no shortage of options.

While the Green Bay Packers are tentatively working on a deal to acquire Josh Sweat from the Arizona Cardinals, both Cameron Jordan and Jadeveon Clowney remain available. Either one of them could step into the No. 3 role behind Travon Walker and Josh Hines-Allen and instantly bolster the pass rush.

Simply put, the Quinton Bohanna signing may not be outright bad, even though there's a chance he may not be much more than a body camp. However, the Jaguars shouldn't stop there. They must look for ways to fortify the defensive line. While they still have a bit of time before the season opener, they'd better act quickly; otherwise, they could run out of options.
