Jaguars inactives for Week 7 against the Patriots
The Jacksonville Jaguars are tentatively getting reinforcements for the Week 7 matchup against the New England Patriots. One day before the game, they announced that they've activated cornerback Tyson Campbell from the Injured Reserve, meaning that there's a strong chance he'll suit up.
Campbell landed on IR after suffering a hamstring injury in the season opener. His 21-day window was activated before Week 6 but didn't play in the loss to the Chicago Bears. The former Georgia Bulldog was a limited participant in practice ahead of Week 7 and was listed as questionable in the final injury report. However, head coach Doug Pederson said that the fourth-year cornerback was trending toward playing, barring a setback.
Aside from Campbell, running back Travis Etienne is the only other Jaguar who popped up on the final injury report. The former Clemson Tiger is dealing with a hamstring injury. According to Pederson, he'll be a game-time decision.
The Jags braced themselves for the possibility of not having Etienne for Week 7 by promoting running back Jake Funk to the active roster via standard elevation.
If Etienne isn't available, Tank Bigsby will get the lion's share of the workload, and D'Ernest Johnson will be the second option in the backfield. On a related note, Jacksonville also elevated defensive end Joe Gaziano was also promoted.
On the opposite sideline, the Patriots have ruled out left tackle Vederian Lowe, who suffered an ankle injury in Week 6 and missed a handful of practices ahead of the game.
Apart from ruling Lowe, the Patriots gave the questionable designation to the following players: Running back Rhamodre Stevenson (foot), wide receiver Javon Baker (illness), guard Michael Jordan (ankle); linebacker Sione Takitaki (knee), linebacker Curtis Jacobs (knee), cornerback Jonathan Jones (shoulder), and cornerback Marcon Wilson (groin).

All things considered, the Jaguars are relatively healthy for Week 7, so injuries won't be an excuse. They're currently a 5.5-point favorite to win the game, and they'll be facing inexperienced rookie Drake Maye, who'll be making his second NFL start.
While beating the Patriots won't outright fix all the Jags' problems, it could at least take some pressure off Doug Pederson, whose job security has been in question in light of the team's 1-5 start.
On the other hand, winning the AFC South doesn't currently look like a realistic possibility, with the Houston Texans having a four-game lead.
