The Jacksonville Jaguars are 3-1 ahead of their Week 5 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Their top-ranked defense has most definitely played a role in their strong start to the season. Not only have the Jags done a superb job of stuffing the run, but they have also excelled at preventing opponents from reaching the end zone.
But as terrifying as the Jacksonville defense has been, it could still be even better. With the trade deadline approaching, general manager James Gladstone will have a prime opportunity to address the larger scale roster. One position group, in particular, that could use upgrades is the interior defensive line.
Coincidentally, Philly may be willing to trade a defensive tackle to the Jaguars, who could turbocharge their front four.
The Jaguars need to call the Eagles about a potential Moro Ojomo trade
The Eagles just showed a willingness to trade players who may not be part of their future plans, sending two-time Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens to the Baltimore Ravens in return for a fifth and a second-round pick.
From an outside perspective, it's hard to tell if the Ravens' deal simply was too good to pass up or if the Eagles are punting on the 2026 season. Either way, Anthony Miller of Inside the Iggles believes defensive tackle Moro Ojomo could be available at the trade deadline.
A seventh-round pick in 2023, Ojomo has become a staple of the Philadelphia front four. He did a good job of bringing the heat last year, registering six sacks in 17 games with nine starts. This season, the Lagos, Nigeria native has racked up 12 total pressures and 10 hurries at defensive tackle.
While DaVon Hamilton is a stud against the run, he isn't particularly great at generating pressure from the interior. That's where Ojomo comes in. He would give the Jags another defensive tackle with pass-rush abilities alongside Arik Armstead.
Sure, Ruke Orhorhoro is also in the mix, but he's nothing more than a rotational piece at this point in his NFL career. And even if he improves as the season progresses, you can never have too many good players at one position.
It's worth noting that this isn't the first time Jacksonville has been dubbed a fit for Ojomo. John Shipley of Sports Illustrated also suggested it not long ago.

Why it makes sense for the Jaguars to trade for Moro Ojomo
Moro Ojomo is entering a contract season, so the Jaguars could most definitely trade for him and let him show that he deserves to be paid. If it doesn't work out, they could simply move on from him without big salary cap repercussions since he's on his rookie deal.
On the other hand, if Ojomo takes off, Jacksonville could give him an extension. The team's brass may need to address the defensive tackle position next year, but if he's around, it won't be such a pressing need.
Either way, it doesn't hurt the Jaguars to reach out to the Eagles about Moro Orjomo. General manager James Gladstone hasn't been afraid to make trades in the past to help the team. Nobody will bat an eye if he makes another one before the 2026 deadline.
