Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Jakobi Meyers is proving more and more each week that general manager James Gladstone was right to trade for him. The Jaguars gave the Las Vegas Raiders a pair of draft picks, and it was completely worth it.

Meyers has already had a huge impact on the wide receiver room, which has been plagued with drops. Thankfully, Meyers chose Jacksonville over multiple other interested teams, and the offense has never looked back.

After just a handful of appearances with the Jaguars, Meyers is already showing signs of growing chemistry with quarterback Trevor Lawrence and is proving to be a reliable receiver, leading the team in receptions over two weeks. Now, he's added another feat to his resume.

Jakobi Meyers delivers long-awaited first touchdown with the Jaguars

Jakobi Meyers hasn't been playing with Jacksonville long, but seeing his first touchdown in teal was still a huge moment to celebrate, in a game that — despite technically being competitive for the Jaguars — was still painful for fans to watch.

The offense has sent fans on a non-stop roller coaster, never knowing what version of the Jags fans are going to get. Yet Meyers is shaping up to be a constant that keeps the team moving forward, even when Lawrence is struggling.

Meyers had said before that his job is to make things easy for Lawrence. "That's all I'm really trying to do," he said. "I gotta make sure I'm in the right spot for him, and I trust him to keep me safe." Lawrence, judging by his on-and-off performance this season, isn't always going to do his part, but it seems increasingly clear that Meyers will.

Brian Thomas Jr. has been a disappointment all season, Travis Hunter is on injured reserve, and Jacksonville needed someone who could step up and make big plays. Meyers has been that person and made an immediate positive impact. Even when his quarterback is not quite up to par, Meyers continues to rise to the occasion, as head coach Liam Coen recently said.

"Just has a feel for the game," Coen said of Meyers. "And his body language as a receiver, I think, is very quarterback-friendly — you just know when he's going to be breaking in or out or sitting down. He doesn't make these quick herky-jerk movements that can spook a quarterback. It's all pretty fluid and deliberate ... he has good hands, so that allows the quarterback to, even if he's maybe off a little bit, know that he will still be able to adjust and make some of those plays."

Regardless of how the season ultimately plays out for the Jaguars, Jakobi Meyers has quickly proven that he's brougth the stability at receiver the Jags expected.
