The Jacksonville Jaguars used a couple of draft picks to bolster the pass rush. Moreover, sophomore Danny Striggow is expected to make strides next season. Having said that, the Jags could still add reinforcements behind the scary duo of Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker.

Cameron Jordan and Jadeveon Clowney remain unsigned and have been brought up as potential options for Jacksonville to fortify its pass rush. Both of them are coming off productive years, and either one could make an instant impact. Having said that, the Jaguars have options beyond Jordan and Clowney.

Josh Sweat hasn't been particularly happy since the Arizona Cardinals ousted head coach Jonathan Gannon early in 2025. That's made him the subject of trade chatter, and the rumors keep swirling after a recent update.

The Cardinals are receiving calls about Josh Sweat

Insider Jordan Schultz broke the news that the Arizona Cardinals have received trade inquiries about Josh Sweat. This doesn't mean that they're listening to offers, but they should most definitely listen.

Sweat is under contract. He just signed a four-year deal worth $76.4 million in 2025, far from chump change. However, it doesn't look like this is a money issue. Rather, he's not thrilled about the team's vision under head coach Mike LaFleur.

Now, it's not particularly shocking to find out that Sweat is drawing trade interest across the league. He just posted a career-best 12 sacks in 2025 and registered a combined 45 the past five years.

The issue with Sweat being in demand is that if Arizona caves, its asking price will go up. A conditional fourth that could become a third based on production seemed to be the baseline, but now, a third and a fourth or a fifth could be needed to strike a deal.

But even if the Cardinals end up asking for more, the Jaguars should consider giving them a call.

Why the Jaguars need to make a push for Josh Sweat

Travon Walker dealt with knee and hand injuries in 2025. This is why he only logged 3.5 sacks after posting 10 each of the two prior seasons. The Jaguars are confident that he can return to form, so they gave him a four-year extension worth $110 million. Meanwhile, Josh Hines-Allen should benefit from the upgrades the team's brass made on the interior defensive line. With fewer double-teams, the former Kentucky Wildcat should be even more productive.

Nevertheless, the Jags could use a No. 3 behind Walker and Hines-Allen. Rookies Wesley Williams and Zach Durfee are expected to compete for roles, while Danny Striggow will tentatively see an uptick in playing time. All three could turn into solid contributors, but none of them would have the same impact that Josh Sweat would have.

Sure, Jacksonville would have to give up one or two draft picks and take on his salary the next three years. But it wouldn't be cost-prohibitive, and it would immediately improve the pass rush. The only potential downside is that they may not have enough cap space to extend their players who are entering contract years.

But other than that, the pros of a potential Josh Sweat trade would outweigh the cons, so it's time the Jaguars see what it would take to strike a deal.
