The Jacksonville Jaguars did a good job of taking care of their most pressing needs in free agency. Having said that, they'll need to keep revaming the roster in the 2025 NFL Draft if they want to challenge the Houston Texans for the AFC South crown next season. One position that could use further upgrades is the offensive line. However, that's the one area the Jags fail to address in a nearly perfect mock draft.
Chad Reuter of NFL Media drew up a four-round mock draft and had the Jags fortify the defense with four of their six picks.
With the fifth overall selection, they defensive tackle Mason Graham. Nobody will bat an eye if that's the path they take. After all, they've been linked to the former Michigan Wolverine throughout most of the cycle.
Then, Jacksonville takes cornerback Maxwell Hairstone at No. 36. This makes sense in spite of the addition of Jourdan Lewis because the team needs depth at the position. Montaric Brown, the top reserve last season, was inconsistent and is entering a contract year. Hairstone could compete with Brown for a role behind Lewis and Jarrian Jones.
In the third round, the Jags keep making additions to the defense. First, they select Arkansas pass rusher Landon Jackson and later choose safety Marques Sigle at No. 88. In case you're wondering why they have two picks in Round 3, they acquired an extra one from the Minnesota Vikings last year when they agreed to move down from move from pick No. 17 to No. 23 in the draft. They also got two fourth-rounders, one in 2025.
It isn't until the fourth round when the Jags pick their first offensive player, tight end Harold Fannin Jr. at No. 107. They later chose wide receiver Tai Felton with the 126th selection. All things considered, both picks make sense when you take into account that Jacksonville needs depth at both positions after cutting ties with Christian Kirk and Evan Engram in free agency.
So what position did the Jags exactly fail to address in this four-round mock draft?
The Jaguars must continue to beef up the O-Line in the 2025 NFL Draft
After neglecting the defensive trenches in free agency, the Jacksonville Jaguars will make it a priority in the NFL Draft. General manager James Gladstone said. That's why nobody would bat an eye if they roll with Mason Graham and later add a pass rusher, like they did in Chad Reuter's mock. Making extra additions at safety and cornerback also makes sense. However, it would also be great if they continue to beef up the offensive line.
It's possible that Reuter didn't have the Jags taking any offensive linemen in his mock because they signed Patrick Mekari, Robert Hainsey, Chuma Edoga, and Fred Johnson in free agency. Having said that, they also signed cornerback Jourdan Lewis and safety Eric Harris, and he still projects them to invest picks at both positions.
Granted, the secondary could still use a boost after the additions of Lewis and Harris, but the same is true about the offensive line. They could easily invest a pair of picks in Rounds 3 and 4 and still invest four selections on defense. That would be a promising haul.
Then again, the Jaguars have only so many picks, so they won't be able to address all its remaining needs. But even if they fail to take care of a few, the roster should be in much better shape after the draft than it was a few months ago.
