Jaguars could instantly plug a gaping hole before the trade deadline

Why not?

The Jacksonville Jaguars looked to have hit the nail on the head with Brenton Strange but, unfortunately, the tight end was placed on injured reserve, meaning he'll miss at least four games. The depth behind Strange isn't great with Hunter Long and his 15 career catches as the next man up.

To solve this issue, the Jaguars could turn to the trade deadline where plenty of eligible tight ends could make a lot of sense for them. One such option could be Mark Andrews, who Sayre Bedinger of NFL Spin Zone listed as not only a trade candidate but one that could land in Jacksonville.

"With the Baltimore Ravens falling to an extremely surprising 1-4 already this season, would anyone be surprised to see them make another couple of moves involving contract-year players? The Ravens are not typically a team we talk about selling at the NFL trade deadline, but they already made the aforementioned deal involving Odafe Oweh, and they might be willing to send off a player like Andrews."

Bedinger then listed the Jaguars and the Chargers as two potential landing spots for Andrews. All of this makes sense considering Strange's trip to IR, the lack of depth at tight end for Jacksonville, and the fact that the Ravens have suddenly become a team that could be sellers instead of buyers.

Jaguars trading for Mark Andrews makes too much sense

The Ravens are not only a lackluster 1-4 with a difficult path out of that hole but Andrews is 30 years old and in the final year of his contract. If the Ravens want to get anything for him, they really should consider trading him. They also have Isaiah Likely as a high-profile successor so parting with Andrews would be a wise decision for them.

The Jaguars clearly have a need at tight end as well, considering Strange is going to miss at least four games and the depth behind him, as I touched on, is meh. Andrews could give Trevor Lawrence an experienced weapon at tight end and then when Strange does come back, he'd have two great options at the position.

The Jaguars are 4-1 and the Colts are also 4-1 in the AFC South. Making this trade could not only net them the division by season's end but could help them make a push during the playoffs. Why not go for it here?
